Common Fund clears PWDs arrears with GH¢9.8 million

The government has released GH¢9.8 million being common fund allocation arrears for Persons With Disability to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country for disbursement.

The government has released GH¢9.8 million being common fund allocation arrears for Persons With Disability to Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies across the country for disbursement.

 

The amount covers 2017 fourth quarter, according to a statement issued and signed by Irene Nana Torshie Addo, Administrator of the District Assembly Common Fund.

For the 2017 fourth quarter PWD allocations, Volta Region had GH¢1.1million; Eastern Region, GH¢1.1million; Ashanti Region, GH¢1.4 million; Brong -Ahafo, GH¢ 1.1milion; and Northern Region receiving, GH¢ 1.1 million.

 The rest are Central Region, GH¢931,284; Western Region, GH¢977, 676; Upper West Region, GH¢460,996; Upper East, GH¢577,275; and Greater Accra Region, GH¢933,928.

The Common Fund Administrator earlier this year also released GH¢28 million to cover 2016 fourth quarter and 2017 first, second and third quarters.

Meanwhile, the DACF has charged all MDAs to equip more than 50 of the PWDs registered in their respective assemblies in economic and business ventures.

It has accordingly directed that the PWDs should be provided working tools and equipment including freezers, sewing machines, corn-mills, pop-corn machines, barbering tools, welding and carpentry machines, shoes markets kit, hair dryers, spraying machines, bee and grasscutter tools, poly tanks and water hose.
