First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo has encouraged young women not to waver in their quest to acquire skills in areas largely dominated by men, being mindful of the importance of electronics in Ghana's development and the positive influence they would have on other women with similar ambitions.

Mrs Akufo-Addo said this when she met young ladies undergoing training in electronics at the Pentecost Vocational Training Institute, under the “Female Professionals in Electronics” project.

In her address, the First lady said the project enables girls to fully participate in the labour market and be financially independent.  She also encouraged the trainee ladies to learn and succeed in a male dominated profession.

Mrs Akufo-Addo further commended the partnership among Korea International Cooperation Agency, the German Development Agency and their private sector partner, Samsung, for the project, noting that it would make girls participate “meaningfully in the labour market and make them locally productive and globally competitive. "

The “Female Professionals in Electronics” project, provides holistic training for girls, comprising theoretical and intense practical competency-based training, with work place experience.
