The Youth and Employment Agency has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Inner city and Zongo Development to engage 3,000 Arabic Teachers across the country.

 

The engagement of the teachers is to re-enforce the subject to make it examinable at the first and second cycle schools in the country.

The signing ceremony which took place in Accra on Wednesday also witnessed a handing over of 3 million Cedis as initial seed money for the people who would be engaged in the programme.

Addressing the media, the sector minister, Boniface Abu-Bakar Saddique, said the collaboration between the two entities was to develop the entire Zongo communities.

According to him, the exercise is different from the other modules under the YEA since the issue of ages of beneficiaries who are over 30 years.

"I would want to stress that the exercise we are having with the YEA is to make the entire residents of the Zongo communities feel part. If Zongos develop, the entire citizenry benefit. I am sure it is not only Muslims who live in the Zongos," the Minister said.

He added that the building of social infrastructures in the Zongos by his Ministry would go a long way to improve social and economic status of the people.

He emphasized that his ministry would continue to engage the YEA to empower all youth irrespective of their beliefs to achieve the needed development they require.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the YEA, Ibrahim Bashir, was confident that the YEA would execute the assignment to the benefit of all.

He assured that his agency would not discriminate in the engagement process, but give openness and the opportunity to the people to bring their potentials on the exercise.
