RESHUFFLES AT LAST - OTIKO FLIES OUT; MUSTAPHA MOVES TO ZONGO; CECILIA DAPAAH, KOFI ADDA SWAP PLACES

After months of speculation in the media about a looming reshuffle, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has finally initiated changes in his ministerial set-up, barely 72 hours after firing the Minister for Energy, Boakye-Agyarko.

After months of speculation in the media about a looming reshuffle, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has finally initiated changes in his ministerial set-up, barely 72 hours after firing the Minister for Energy, Boakye-Agyarko.

 

Some of appointments, all of which take immediate effect, will go through Parliament for the necessary legislative processes – all aimed at strengthening the team in enhancing faster development in line with the President’s vision.

The President, in a release from Presidency, expressed the hope that Parliament would expedite vetting processes to ensure that Ministers-designate for Information as well as Gender, Children and Social Protection, take up office in no time to assume pressing responsibilities. The cases of Regional Ministers and deputy Regional Minister-designates for Upper East and Brong Ahafo are also expected to be treated with a sense of urgency by the vetting committee, according to the release.

According to the release to the media, signed by Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the Flagstaff House, John Peter Amewu, former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and acting Minister for Energy, now replaces Boakye Agyarko as Minister for Energy, while Minister of Information Mustapha Abdul-Hamid moves to the Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development.

Otiko Afisa Djaba, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, moves onto the corridors of diplomacy and international cooperation and partnerships as Ambassador for Italy – to be replaced by Cynthia Morrison, MP for Agona West, as Minister for Women, Children and Gender Affairs.

Cecilia Abena Dapaah and Kofi Adda, MP for Navrongo Central, swap places at the Ministry for Sanitation and Water Resources and Ministry of Aviation respectively, while Deputy Minister for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and MP for Ofoase/Ayirebi moves to the Ministry of Information as Minister-designate.

According to the release, Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, has also been moved to the Ministry for Lands and Natural Resources as Minister-designate.

In the same breath, Paulina Tangoba Abayage, former Ambassador to Italy, comes down to Ghana as Upper East Regional Minister-designate. Evans Opoku Bobie, Member of Parliament for Asunafo North constituency and former deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, is now Brong Ahafo Regional Minister designate, while Martin Oti Gyarko, MP for Techiman North constituency, takes over as Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister designate.

Former Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development Boniface Abubakar Saddique and MP for Madina constituency moves to the Flagstaff House as Minister of State at the Office of the Vice President, to be joined by Rockson Bukari, former Upper East Regional Minister, who also moves up as Minister of State at the Office of the President.

Also captured in the list of appointments is Pius Enam Hadzide, former deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, who is now Deputy Minister for Information, with Perry Curtis Okudzeto, former deputy Minister for Information, is now moving to the Ministry of Youth and Sports as Deputy Minister.
