Barely a day after members of the opposition National Democratic Congress took to the streets to hold a demonstration dubbed "Kum Yen Preko”, Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia has exposed the party on social media.

The Vice-President posted a telling analysis on Facebook, compiling promises fulfilled by the governing New Patriotic Party and comparing these with what the National Democratic Congress did while in government.

The post on his Facebook page by Dr Bawumia, who is also the head of the Akufo-Addo government’s Economic Management Team, was presented under the hashtag #DroptheHypocrisy. It aimed to expose the hardship imposed by the NDC through the last government’s mismanagement of the economy.

It also laid bare highly suspect claims and statements being made by the same NDC, now in opposition.

Failed promises

In the post, Dr Bawumia proffered a long list of failures recorded by the NDC government during its eight-year tenure. An equally long list outlined achievements recorded by the Akufo-Addo government in just two and a half years.

The comparison shows the NPP outperforming the NDC in the short period since it assumed power.

Among the NPP’s achievements, the Vice-President enumerates implementation of the Free Senior High School policy, abolition of taxes and levies, restoration of nursing and teacher trainees’ allowances, creation of jobs and the end of Ghana’s bailout by the IMF.
