British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, says he believes the challenges facing Ghanaians would be duly addressed with the Akufo-Addo-led presidency.

British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, says he believes the challenges facing Ghanaians would be duly addressed with the Akufo-Addo-led presidency.

“It is a great pleasure to be able to congratulate you , Mr President,  personally , on your triumph 38 days ago, roughly speaking, and to see your  government getting smoothly underway and getting ready to meet all the challenges that the people of Ghana want  you to meet,” the United Kingdom Foreign Secretary said.

Boris Johnson who was speaking to the media after paying a courtesy call on the president, added that he believed British firms would come in their numbers and “invest in Ghana looking at the fantastic opportunities that are in this wonderful country.”

This, according to him, would be made possible through the cordial relationship between the Ghana and the United Kingdom.

“We hope to have an even deeper friendship going forward and particularly we want to make sure that British firms come here in their greater numbers and greater strength to invest in Ghana and if I may say take advantages of the fantastic opportunities that are in this wonderful country.”

The foreign Secretary also acknowledged the contributions made by some Ghanaians in the UK, stating that as a former mayor of London, he can attest to the contributions from Ghanaians especially MPs of Ghanaians extraction.

Accompanied by other British dignitaries, including the UK Ambassador to Ghana, Jon Benjamin, the Foreign Secretary disclosed that as a first timer in Ghana, the discussions he had with President Nana Akufo-Addo, which centred particularly on foreign policies and security issues, would go a long way to help both countries.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, for his part, said “at the end of the day, we are both concerned about what we can do to improve the lives of our various peoples and that is the main consideration,” adding that both countries were looking at how to make sure that relations between the two were also strengthened for the benefit of all the citizens.
